This past weekend I attended the microfranchising track of the 10th annual Economic Self-Reliance Conference at Brigham Young University. (Sidenote: if you feel so inspired to read or reread Emerson's 'Self Reliance' after hearing the title of this conference as I did, here is the full text). It was a wonderful gathering of practitioners, each sharing their experiences and lessons learned in the field. The upcoming series of posts I will summarize basic news, highlight the organizations that presented, and also my own observations regarding common denominators of success. A preview of the main presenters--Scojo, Academy for Creating Enterprise, OneRoof, Freedom from Hunger, and Community Enterprise Solutions.
